Angels Dominate Dodgers in Freeway Series Clash

Anaheim, CA - Los Angeles Angels overwhelmed the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 10-1 victory in the latest chapter of the Freeway Series. The game showcased the Angels’ offensive firepower and Griffin Canning’s commanding presence on the mound.

The Angels set the tone immediately, erupting for five runs in the first inning. Anthony Rendon started the rally with a two-run single, and Mickey Moniak followed up with a towering three-run home run, marking his 13th homer of the season.

Niko Kavadas added to the lead with a solo shot in the second inning, his second of the year. Taylor Ward joined the home run parade in the fifth inning with a solo blast, his 21st of the season. The Angels piled on three more runs in the eighth, with clutch RBI singles from Jo Adell, Ward, and Zach Neto.

Griffin Canning delivered one of his best performances of the season, stifling the Dodgers’ potent lineup. Canning pitched 6⅔ innings, allowing just one run on five hits while striking out seven. The outing improved his record to 5-12 on the season.

“He had great command of his pitches tonight,” Angels manager Phil Nevin said. “He set the tone for us, and the offense responded.”

The Dodgers, who entered the game with the best record in Major League Baseball at 84-56, struggled to generate offense. Their only run came in the seventh inning when Andy Pages drove in an RBI single off reliever Aaron Loup.

Starting pitcher Bobby Miller endured a tough outing, surrendering seven runs on seven hits over five innings, including three home runs. The loss dropped his record to 2-4.

“We couldn’t capitalize on opportunities, and they punished every mistake,” said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts.
