In a thrilling showdown at Allegiant Stadium on December 27, 2024, the USC Trojans staged a remarkable comeback to defeat the Texas A&M Aggies 35-31 in the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl. The Trojans overcame a 24-7 deficit, scoring 28 points in the second half to secure the victory.
USC’s offense was spearheaded by wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane, who delivered an outstanding performance with seven receptions for 127 yards and three touchdowns, earning him the game’s MVP honors. Quarterback Jayden Maiava contributed significantly, completing 22 of 39 passes for 295 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions.
The Aggies started strong, with quarterback Marcel Reed leading a 16-play opening drive culminating in a 7-yard touchdown pass to Noah Thomas. Reed amassed 293 passing yards and three touchdowns but was hindered by two first-half interceptions. He also showcased his mobility, adding 46 rushing yards and a 19-yard touchdown run that temporarily reclaimed the lead for Texas A&M with less than two minutes remaining.
The game’s climax occurred in the final moments when Maiava orchestrated a decisive drive, connecting with receiver Kyle Ford for a 7-yard touchdown pass with just eight seconds left, sealing the Trojans’ victory.
This win marked USC’s third consecutive bowl victory over Texas A&M, extending their all-time series lead to 4-0. The Trojans concluded their season with a 7-6 record, while the Aggies finished at 8-5 under first-year head coach Mike Elko.
The 2024 Las Vegas Bowl attracted an attendance of 26,671 fans, witnessing a game that will be remembered for its dramatic swings and thrilling conclusion.
